E-cat kit導入事例【狭あい道路工事_東京都 株式会社たま建様】

E-cat kit implementation example [Narrow road construction_Tokyo Tamaken Co., Ltd.]

Tamaken Co., Ltd. undertakes construction of narrow roads mainly in Tokyo.

We installed an E-cat kit for transporting earth, sand, stones, and materials for road construction.

During the interview, I was able to hear the story while actually carrying out work at the site under the scorching sun, and I got a real sense of the harshness of transport work on narrow roads where light trucks cannot fit.

We asked Mr. Tamaki, a representative who has been using the E-cat kit for a long time, about his experience with the reduction in labor.

-First of all, please tell us about Tamaken Co., Ltd.'s business content.

Yes, we are a company that performs a wide range of narrow road construction work.

As the name suggests, a narrow road is a very narrow road, less than 4 meters wide.

There are many such streets in Tokyo, and they are often referred to as narrow streets.

When constructing a building on land facing a narrow road, the site must be set back from the center of the existing road by law, so construction work to widen the road will be necessary.

We are in charge of all road construction related to such construction, including parking lot paving, sewage setbacks and sewage pipe installation, and final asphalt paving.

-What challenges did you face regarding transportation and work before introducing the E-cat kit?

Due to the nature of narrow construction work, there are many long distances and narrow roads, and there are many sites where vehicles such as light trucks cannot enter.

At large sites, there are times when we have to transport 70 to 80 kilograms of soil, stones, blocks, etc. over a distance of 200 meters between the site and the truck. For larger sites, the number of workers increases, and there are times when each worker makes more than 200 round trips a day.

In addition, the work involved digging and transporting the items, and there were many situations in which people had to climb over relatives, stones, etc.

Particularly in the summer, workers' physical energy is consumed at a high rate, and there is a severe labor shortage. This is an issue that is currently being talked about throughout the civil engineering and construction industry, and we were conscious of the urgent need to improve work efficiency and productivity.

- Please let us know if there was anything you had to do regarding transportation, work in narrow spaces, or transportation work before introducing this product.

Nothing in particular. I'll just do my best lol

We are focusing on training young people.

It's a physically demanding job, so you need young talent. Even though we currently have a sufficient number of workers, we are hiring many young workers for training purposes.

We use many family referrals and local young people, and a large part of the heavy lifting is done by young manpower.

-How did you hear about E-cat kit?

It was introduced over a year ago, so I don't remember the exact purchasing route, but I remember seeing a mandarin orange farmer using it online.

I wonder if this will also fit on the unicycle at my site? So I decided to introduce it.

-Did you have any concerns or anxieties before implementing it?

I was a little worried that the tires would go flat because I put heavy things on them and use them tough.

However, I am using it without any problems so far.

-What are your honest impressions after using it?

All I can say is very good! I currently have two machines installed, and they are mainly used by me and other veteran workers.

In terms of work speed, the work is still being done by people, so there isn't much of a change, but I feel that my fatigue level is about 50%.

The weight to be transported is about 90 kg when it is heavy.

Loading the truck onto the truck using scaffolding boards has become much easier.

In order to transport as much as possible, it becomes necessary to use a unicycle to climb the dirt pile on top of the loading platform.

If it's manual, it's quite a struggle, but if it's electric, it doesn't require much force, so it's even smoother.

I can't really see any disadvantages.

It has withstood quite a lot of rain, and although I avoid the battery area, I wash the car body quite a bit.

There are no problems at all so far.

-What changes have you seen in the workplace since the introduction?

It is also very well received by the workers. At our company, two of our four unicycles have been electrified using the E-cat kit.

There are some sites that are much smaller than this one, so this ease of handling is quite attractive.

Also, if you use a manual wheelbarrow, when loading it onto the truck bed, if you put too much on the unicycle, it won't lift.

So, before, there were situations where I could only carry a modest amount, but with the E-cat, I can lift it even when fully loaded, so I feel like the amount I can carry has increased by 1.5 times.

The front is a manual unicycle, and the back is an E-cat kit. There is a noticeable difference in the payload capacity.

-How do you plan to use it in the future?

I would like to continue using it at construction sites for narrow roads.

The civil engineering and construction industry is in turmoil due to work style reforms and revisions to the Labor Standards Act, but I believe it is important to devise ways to improve productivity at each site.

To that end, I would like to actively incorporate this type of electrification technology. I feel that it is quite cost effective when considering durability and availability.

At our company, we are putting effort into educating young people in order to foster the next generation, but we need to change our mindset from various angles, including improving the workplace environment.

I think the E-cat kit is a product that truly solves problems in the field.

I will continue to use it a lot!

Thank you, Mr. Tamaken, for taking the time out of your busy schedule!

The interview made me feel the reality of narrow road construction sites and the importance of improving productivity.

In the future, we will continue to use our technical capabilities to resolve on-site difficulties and contribute to solving various on-site issues.

The unicycle electric kit E-cat kit2 can be purchased from distributors and retailers.
